Academic Calendar
The BIMI academic year runs on a semester system, divided into two semesters per academic year. The calendar below represents a typical annual cycle. Students receive a detailed semester timetable before the start of each term. All dates are subject to confirmation by the Academic Council and may vary slightly between academic years.
Annual Academic Cycle Overview

Semester 1 — Typical Weekly Schedule Structure
The following represents the typical distribution of teaching time across a week in the pre-clinical years (Years 1–3). Clinical year (Years 4–5) schedules are hospital-based and structured differently.

Annual Examination Structure

Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is a non-negotiable academic requirement at BIMI, consistent with national regulatory requirements and international accreditation standards.
• Minimum Required Attendance — 80% attendance in all lectures, tutorials, practicals, and clinical postings for each subject.
• Exemption Requests — Short-term medical or compassionate leave may be approved by the Dean of Student Affairs; documentation is required.
• Detention — Students who fail to maintain 80% attendance in any subject are 'detained' from appearing in the annual examination for that subject, regardless of academic performance.
• Attendance Records — Digital biometric attendance tracking ensures accurate, auditable records for all teaching sessions.
University Holidays & Observances
• Kyrgyz Republic National Holidays — All national public holidays of the Kyrgyz Republic are observed by BIMI.
• International Cultural & Religious Observances — BIMI's diverse student body is acknowledged in the academic calendar with accommodation for major religious observances including Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Diwali, Christmas, and others. Students requiring accommodation should notify the Dean of Student Affairs in advance.
• BIMI Foundation Day — An annual institutional celebration acknowledging the institute's founding, typically observed with academic events, cultural programmes, and community engagement activities.
Student Advisory — Academic Calendar
The detailed academic timetable for each semester, including room allocations, faculty assignments, and examination schedules, is published on the BIMI Student Portal at least 3 weeks before each semester begins.
Students are advised to maintain their own academic diary aligned with the published calendar and to monitor the LMS daily for any schedule changes, which are communicated with minimum 48 hours' notice wherever possible.
The BIMI Academic Affairs Office is open Monday through Saturday, 09:00–17:00 (Bishkek time) for all calendar-related queries.
