Admission Requirements

BIMI welcomes applications from qualified, motivated students from all over the world. Our admissions process is designed to identify candidates who have the academic foundation, personal qualities, and professional commitment to succeed in medicine. The following requirements apply for admission to the six-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) / MBBS programme at BIMI.

Please read all requirements carefully. If you are uncertain about your eligibility in any area, our Admissions Office is available to assist you with a personalised eligibility assessment before you apply.

Section 1 — Core Academic Requirements

Minimum Academic Qualification

•       Completion of 10+2 / Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary Certificate (or internationally equivalent qualification) from a recognised educational board, institution, or ministry.

•       The qualification must include Biology (or Life Sciences), Chemistry, and Physics as principal subjects studied in the final two years of secondary education.

•       Minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) combined. Some national medical councils require higher minimum marks — see country-specific requirements below.

•       Students awaiting final results may apply provisionally. A conditional offer letter will be issued. Full admission is confirmed only upon receipt of passing results meeting the minimum aggregate requirement.

•       Students who have completed A-Levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, the American High School Diploma with AP Sciences, or equivalent international qualifications are eligible, subject to credential evaluation by the BIMI Admissions Committee.

Subjects Required at Senior Secondary Level

Subject Requirement
Biology / Life Sciences Mandatory — must be a principal examination subject
Chemistry Mandatory — must be a principal examination subject
Physics Mandatory for most applicants — see country-specific notes
Mathematics Not required as a replacement for Physics/Biology; may be accepted alongside Biology + Chemistry at institutions accepting the PCB+M profile
English Must have studied English as a subject; proficiency requirement applies (see Section 4)

Section 2 — Country-Specific Requirements

Different national medical councils impose specific eligibility requirements for students wishing to study medicine abroad. It is the student's responsibility to ensure compliance with both BIMI's requirements and those of their home country's medical council. BIMI's Admissions team will assist with verification but cannot accept responsibility for non-compliance with home country regulations.

India

•       NEET-UG qualification is mandatory for all Indian nationals seeking to study medicine abroad (required by the National Medical Commission Act, 2020).

•       Students must have appeared in NEET-UG and obtained a qualifying score. The qualifying percentile for general category candidates is the 50th percentile (SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile).

•       A valid NEET scorecard must be submitted as part of the application. Applications from Indian nationals without a valid NEET scorecard cannot be processed.

•       Minimum aggregate of 50% in PCB at 10+2 level for general category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC. (BIMI's own minimum is 60% PCB, which is higher than the NMC minimum — BIMI's standard applies.)

•       Students must comply with all NMC Screening Test / NExT eligibility criteria in force at the time of graduation, as these are subject to regulatory update. BIMI recommends students regularly check the NMC India website for current requirements.

•       Maximum age: There is currently no upper age limit for NEET-UG following the Supreme Court of India ruling. However, students are advised to verify current NMC policy before applying.

Pakistan

•       Students must meet the eligibility criteria of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) for pursuing medical education abroad.

•       Minimum FSc (pre-medical) marks: 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (HSSC Part I and Part II combined).

•       Students are advised to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PMDC before departure, confirming eligibility to study at BIMI. BIMI's Admissions team will provide the documentation required for PMDC NOC application.

•       Maximum age for regular applicants: 25 years at the time of admission (verify current PMDC policy, subject to change).

•       MDCAT qualification is recommended for Pakistani applicants.

Bangladesh

•       Students must comply with Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC) criteria for overseas medical study.

•       Students are required to obtain prior approval from the BMDC (a Letter of Eligibility or equivalent) before enrolling at any overseas medical institution. BIMI will provide all institutional support documents required for this process.

•       Minimum SSC + HSC aggregate marks as specified by BMDC regulations in force at the time of application — currently minimum 3.50 GPA in both SSC and HSC (or equivalent), with Biology as a mandatory subject.

Nigeria & Other African Nations

•       Nigerian students must verify current eligibility requirements with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). BIMI holds recognition with MDCN, supporting graduates' application for provisional registration.

•       West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) results with minimum credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics are the standard academic entry requirement for Nigerian students.

•       Students from Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and other African nations should verify requirements with their national medical council. BIMI's Admissions team has experience with the regulatory requirements of many African countries and will provide country-specific guidance.

Sri Lanka

•       Sri Lankan students should verify current requirements with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC). A Letter of Eligibility from the SLMC may be required before overseas enrolment.

•       Minimum Sri Lanka A-Level or equivalent results with passes in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Nepal

•       Nepalese students should comply with Nepal Medical Council (NMC) regulations for overseas medical study, including any requirement for a No Objection Certificate.

•       Minimum marks as per Nepal's academic stream for science (PCB).

Other Countries

BIMI has enrolled students from over 25 countries. For students from countries not specifically listed above, the Admissions team will conduct an individual eligibility assessment based on the student's academic credentials and the requirements of their national medical council. Please contact admissions@bimiedu.com with your country and qualification details for a personalised assessment.

Section 3 — Age Requirements

•       Minimum age: 17 years as of December 31st of the year of application.

•       Maximum age: As specified by the student's national medical council. BIMI does not impose its own upper age limit beyond regulatory requirements. Indian students: no upper limit currently. Pakistani students: 25 years (verify with current PMDC policy). Other countries: verify with national medical council.

•       Students who do not meet their home country's age requirements for the national licensing examination at the time of graduation would be disadvantaged regardless of their BIMI degree. BIMI strongly advises verifying age eligibility with the home country medical council before applying.

Section 4 — English Language Requirements

All instruction at BIMI is delivered entirely in English. Students must be able to participate fully in English-medium lectures, tutorials, clinical discussions, written examinations, and patient-facing clinical encounters. Insufficient English proficiency is a significant academic risk and a patient safety concern in clinical settings.

•       Students from countries where English is the official medium of secondary and higher secondary education (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh — for students who studied in English-medium schools) are generally not required to provide additional English proficiency certification, provided their academic transcripts demonstrate English-medium instruction.

•       Students from countries where English is not the official medium of instruction, or where secondary education was conducted in a language other than English, must provide one of the following: IELTS Academic (minimum overall band 6.0, no individual band below 5.5); TOEFL iBT (minimum total score 72); Duolingo English Test (minimum score 95); or equivalent recognised English language certification.

•       Students who do not meet the English language requirement at the time of application may be offered admission conditional on completing BIMI's pre-sessional English for Medical Purposes (EMP) course, which runs for 4–6 weeks before the start of the academic year.

Section 6 — Medical Fitness Requirements

Medicine is a physically and emotionally demanding profession. BIMI requires all admitted students to confirm their physical fitness to participate in all aspects of the programme, including clinical placements.

•       A Medical Fitness Certificate from a licensed physician is required, confirming the student is in good health and free from conditions that would prevent participation in clinical training.

•       Infectious disease screening is mandatory for Kyrgyz Republic visa purposes and includes: HIV antibody test (ELISA), Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and tuberculosis screening (Mantoux test or IGRA, or chest X-ray for BCG-vaccinated individuals).

•       Vaccination — Students are strongly advised to ensure their vaccination records are up to date before arrival, particularly for: Hepatitis B (full course — 3 doses), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Influenza, and COVID-19.

•       Students with a disability or chronic health condition are encouraged to disclose this to the Admissions Office in confidence, so that BIMI can make appropriate adjustments to support full participation in the programme. Disability does not automatically disqualify a student from admission.

Section 7 — Academic Integrity & Personal Statement

•       Personal Statement (Optional but Recommended) — A 300–500 word personal statement explaining the student's motivation to study medicine, personal qualities, and career aspirations. Not assessed by marking criteria but reviewed by the Admissions Committee to understand the student behind the transcripts.

•       All information submitted in the application must be true and accurate. Discovery of fraudulent, falsified, or misrepresented documents at any stage — including after admission — will result in immediate withdrawal of admission or termination of enrolment, without refund.

•       BIMI reserves the right to request additional documents or to conduct a verification interview for any applicant.

Before You Apply — BIMI's Advice

1. Check your NEET / national exam status FIRST. For Indian students, a valid NEET score is non-negotiable. No other qualification can substitute for it.

2. Visit your national medical council's website and verify that BIMI is listed / recognised before submitting your application.

3. Ensure your passport has at least 18 months of validity remaining. Visa processing cannot begin without a valid passport.

4. Gather all documents BEFORE starting your application. An incomplete application delays your processing significantly.

5. Contact our Admissions team at admissions@bimiedu.com for a FREE eligibility assessment before you apply — our team will give you an honest assessment of your application prospects.
