Alumni Association

Graduate network, engagement, and institutional contribution

Alumni Association supports alumni connection, recognition, and contribution to current and future BIMI cohorts.

Alumni Association

The BIMI Alumni Association (BAA) is the official body representing all graduates of Bishkek International Medical Institute. It exists to maintain the bond between BIMI and its graduates, to provide a professional support network for alumni at every stage of their careers, and to build a global community of physicians who share BIMI's values — excellence, compassion, integrity, and commitment to service.

Membership in the BAA is automatic upon graduation from BIMI. Every student who completes the six-year programme and receives the MD degree becomes a life member of the BIMI Alumni Association — no application required, no subscription fee. The BAA is your professional family, wherever in the world you practise medicine.

Vision of the BAA

To be the most active, most connected, and most supportive alumni network of any medical institution in Central Asia — a community where BIMI graduates help each other grow professionally, contribute to the institution they came from, and amplify the positive impact of BIMI-trained physicians on global health.

What the Alumni Association Does

Professional Support & Career Development

•       Licensing Exam Mentorship Programme — Current students and recent graduates preparing for FMGE/NExT, USMLE, PLAB, or AMC examinations are matched with BIMI alumni who have successfully cleared the same examination. Mentors provide exam strategy, study material recommendations, and motivational support from personal experience.

•       Residency Application Coaching — Alumni who are currently in, or have completed, residency training in various countries (USA, UK, India, Middle East, Africa) offer guidance on application essays, interview preparation, specialty selection, and navigating the NRMP match or equivalent processes.

•       Job Placement Network — The BAA maintains a confidential job opportunity board accessible to all BIMI alumni, with clinical positions, academic appointments, fellowship opportunities, and locum posts shared by alumni employer-connections around the world.

•       Specialist Mentorship — Experienced BIMI alumni consultants and specialists offer career guidance to recent graduates considering a particular specialty, including advice on postgraduate examination choices, fellowship pathways, and subspecialty training routes.

Networking & Community Building

•       Regional Alumni Chapters — BAA has established regional chapters in India (Chapter headquarters: Delhi), Pakistan (Lahore), Bangladesh (Dhaka), Nigeria (Lagos), UAE (Dubai), and is developing chapters in Kenya, Ghana, and the United Kingdom. Each chapter organises local events, study groups, and social gatherings.

•       Annual Alumni Directory — The BAA publishes an annual directory of BIMI graduates (available to members via secure login), enabling alumni to reconnect with classmates and identify professional contacts worldwide.

•       Alumni WhatsApp & LinkedIn Community — An active alumni community on WhatsApp (regional and specialty-based groups) and a BIMI Alumni LinkedIn group with over 2,000+ members, providing real-time professional networking.

•       Monthly Alumni Newsletter — The BAA sends a monthly newsletter featuring alumni success stories, professional development resources, licensing exam updates, BIMI institutional news, and upcoming alumni events.

Academic Contributions

•       Guest Lecturers — BAA encourages alumni who are specialists in their field to return to BIMI (in person or via video link) as guest lecturers, sharing their clinical expertise, licensing examination experience, and career journey with current students.

•       OSCE Examiners — Qualified alumni clinicians may apply to serve as OSCE examiners at BIMI's annual and supplementary OSCE examinations — a meaningful contribution that also enhances the examiner's own assessment skills.

•       Research Collaborators — Alumni researchers at other institutions are invited to collaborate with BIMI Research Centres on projects of mutual interest.

•       Scholarship Donors — Alumni who wish to establish a named scholarship or contribute to existing BIMI scholarship funds do so through the BAA's Giving Back programme (see section 2.4).
